After moving a million cubic yards of the beautiful sugar sand that is ideal for creating a world-class golf course, creating lakes, such as the magnificent lake on Number 15 that provides both beauty and challenge the course was completed. It had taken 13 months of construction including eight months of growing in the Tifway 419 Bermudagrass on the fairways and the Tifeagle Ultra-dwarf Bermudagrass on the greens, but in October 2002, McArthur Golf Club opened to accolades from everyone who played.

The golf course rests lightly on the land, a tribute to Fazio and Price’s commitment to maintain the nuances of the Old Florida topography, while creating a championship-caliber golf course. Each element joins to others to become an oasis of golf in a private, hidden location, designed to transport each golfer away from the bustle of the world and into the ancient world of golf. Golf at McArthur Golf Club is pristine, breathtaking, wonderfully fair and challenging on every hole and ultimately, a one-of-a-kind golf experience that evokes the same hushed tones and reverence accorded to the finest golf courses in the world. It is indeed a “special golf course.”
